Science vs Religion
The question of our age, dear friends! Is Science compatible with Religion. The answer to this question is a resounding YES! But we must go further. For true science is ONLY possible when conducted through true religion. For as God’s holy infallible word, the Holy Bible says:
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”

Friends, without the fear of God, you are in fact a practitioner of unwise science. For you have forsaken wisdom, and without wisdom we CANNOT know truth. For unwise science, has, of course created great wonders. The magicians in Egypt created great wonders! They did. (Exodus 7-8). For unwise science, though fruitful, is closer to alchemy than it is to true science. For true science, in addition to being the actual truth, bears fruit in relation to God’s will.
People will argue about the wonders of science. It has brought phones, cars and medicine. All true. Where that has been founded on true science, it has edified and built up both creation and man. Where it has been based on partial science, science without wisdom, science without God, we have destruction and misery. The destruction of nature. The exploitation of children. The shedding of the blood of innocents. All enabled by partial science. For that old foe, that old foe, the devil does distort and pervert when he gets his foot in the door. He gets his foot in the door when there is NO wisdom!
But friends, we must go deeper. We must! We must consider what we mean by science and what we mean by religion.
What is science?
Let us start, dear friends, looking at what the greatest authority on the English language, the Cambridge Dictionary, says about science:
Cambridge Dictionary
(knowledge from) the careful study of the structure and behaviour of the physical world, especially by watching, measuring, and doing experiments, and the development of theories to describe the results of these activities.
“Watching, measuring, and doing experiments”. This is what we call empiricism. Observable evidence. We can watch, measure and do experiments with the world around us. This is a wondrous thing. To study systematically the glories of God’s creation. It has taught us so much and, when applied by a wise, God-fearing scientist, has created much benefit to man, beast, and creation. However, our great demonic enemy has so perverted science in the mind of the everyman. For you CANNOT watch or measure what happened in the past. Impossible. You CANNOT watch or measure what we have never actually seen.
They say that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. Yet all man has are bones of large animals. That is all they have. Mere bones.

Yet they construct tall tales about a category of animal that has more in common with Hollywood than natural history. They say that there are planets like ours millions of ‘light-years’ away. Yet they have never got anywhere near them. They have no idea what it’s like up close. They say that man came from a fish. Which is a tale so tall that it would embarrass a four-year-old. They have NEVER observed it. They have nothing more than a Clever Narrative Theory. Yet people repeat such things as fact. Has it been watched? No. Has it been measured? No. Have they recreated it with an experiment? No.
Religion is NOT incompatible with science. It is not opposed to truth. It is opposed to hogwash. But that brings us to our next question. What do we mean by religion?

Let’s ask the Cambridge Dictionary again:
the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or any such system of belief and worship.
Do we believe and worship a God? Yes! And dear friends, we are talking about the true religion of saving faith in Jesus Christ! For there are 10,000 religions in the world. But we believe not in a cultural phenomenon. But in the actual risen Saviour. For we have believed the Gospel. Just as 2+2 has one correct answer and an unlimited number of wrong answers, the answers to life, the universe and everything have one correct answer: the Lord Jesus Christ.
Is science compatible with religion?
The answer then my beloved friends, is dependent on what we mean. Is ‘unwise science’ that is almost akin to alchemy compatible with true religion? No. For ‘unwise science’ exploits, destroys, and corrupts. And nothing that corrupts is compatible with holiness. Is true science compatible with false religion? Absolutely not. For one cannot achieve the wisdom necessary apart from the true and terrifying God in Heaven.
Friends. Seek truth. Seek honesty. Don’t be bamboozled by popular theories presented as fact. But walk, be bold and courageous enough to stand for what really is. And know that true science is NEVER in opposition to true religion.
