Why I Only Use the King James Bible

As a Bible-believing Christian, my final authority is the Holy Bible the infallible, preserved Word of God. I am neither left nor right; I am Bible believing. And when it comes to an English translation, I will not budge one iota from the King James Version. Modern versions come and go like the latest fad, but the KJV has stood the test of time, souls saved, churches built, and nations shaped by its power. Here are ten reasons I only use it reasons rooted in truth, not preference.

  1. It is the most reliable translation in English. The 47 scholars who laboured on it approached their task with fear of God, not the arrogance of modern “scholars.” Their work rings with divine accuracy.
  2. It rests upon the superior Byzantine manuscripts the Textus Receptus, the traditional text preserved by the Church for centuries. These are not the corrupted Alexandrian scraps that modern versions lean on. God promised preservation: “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever” (Psalm 12:6-7).
  3. More English-speaking Christians have come to faith through it than through all other translations combined. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Millions have been convicted, converted, and conformed to Christ by its plain, powerful language. Why trade proven fruit for unproven novelty?
  4. It comes from an age of peak Protestant truth the bright light of the Reformation still burning strong. The translators stood in the spirit of Tyndale and the Reformers who gave their lives for the open Bible.
  5. It is written in the best and most articulate form of English ever produced majestic, precise, and stirring. It lifts the mind and stirs the heart in ways that flat, committee-produced modern English simply cannot.
  6. It retains the singular and plural pronouns (“thou/thee/thy” versus just “you”) that are in the Greek and Hebrew. Modern versions blur whether the Lord is speaking to one person or many. That distinction matters. Lose it and you lose precision in understanding Scripture itself.
  7. It is not owned by any greedy capitalist. The KJV is public domain freely available to every man, woman, and child. No publishing empire profits from peddling an altered text.
  8. It was completed before the rise of higher criticism that sceptical, unbelieving scholarship which treats the Bible like any other ancient book. The KJV translators believed every word.
  9. It has no Dead Sea Scroll influence. Those scrolls have been weaponised by some to cast doubt on the received text. The KJV rests instead on the manuscripts the Church has always recognised as pure.
  10. It is utterly opposed to ecumenical compromise. It does not soften doctrine to please Rome, liberals, or anyone else. It stands as a bulwark for biblical Protestantism.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35 (KJV)

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

In these last days, when many have itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3), we need the sure foundation. For me and my house, that preserved Word in English is the King James Bible. Read it. Study it. Let it search your heart and renew your mind. It has never failed those who trust it — and it never will.
