Notes on Jesus’ Return Job 19:25-26"For I know
that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at
the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this
body, yet in my flesh shall I see God." Jesus
will stand upon the earth and the dead shall see Him in their resurrected
bodies. Zechariah 14:4 "And his feet shall stand in that day upon
the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east." When He stands upon the face of the earth He shall do so upon
the mount of Olives. Malachi 3:1-2 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall
prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to
his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold,
he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. But who may abide the day of his
coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for
he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: When he comes he will come suddenly!
But take note, it mentions His temple. Malachi
4:1-2 For, behold, the day cometh,
that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly,
shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord
of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that
fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings;
and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the
stall. When He comes He will burn up the wicked but He will bring healing with His wings for those
who fear His name. Matthew
16:27 "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his
angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works." When
Jesus comes then judgement will shortly follow. Is this a reference to
Revelation 20? Matthew
24:27-31 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto
the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man
be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of
those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then
shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man
coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send
his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather
together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the
other. The
coming of the Lord shall be sudden and dramatic. Nobody will be able to
ignore it. After the tribulation there shall be a gathering to Jesus from
heaven and earth. Matthew 24:36-44 of that day and hour knoweth
no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Nobody knows the timing of the Lord's return. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the
Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating
and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark And knew not
until the flood came, and took them all away; so
shall also the coming of the Son of man be. It will come suddenly. And as the flood took the evil men
away, so will there be a similar affect to those who
do not know Jesus. Remember Malachi above (proud, yea, and all that do
wickedly, shall be stubble). Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and
the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be
taken, and the other left. The preceding verses would imply that it is the righteous who
are left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth
come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch
the thief would come, he would have watched, and
would not have suffered his house to be broken up. We do NOT know the time of His coming. We cannot predict it. Therefore be
ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son
of man cometh. But we can say that when you think it will happen is NOT when
it will happen. Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels,
and shall gather together his elect from the
four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of
heaven. The gathered will come from both heaven and earth. Mark 13:29-32 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these
things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. When the signs Jesus outlines appear then you know that the
end is nigh. (See Mark 13:14 - the abomination of desolation) Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass,
till all these things be done. From the time the abomination is seen all the events of Mark 13
will happen within a generation. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass
away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. The timing of when this process begins is not known to anyone. ©2025 Luke Appleton |
